31 for 21 - F is for Fainting Goat

      Since first getting goats about 7 years ago or so, I have thought about getting a Fainting Goat. They are quite an interesting mid-size goat that will actually faint it it gets scared or freaked out. I have heard that they were originally brought to AMerica to run with more expensive stock. Then, when a predator comes, the fainting goat would pass out and the others would get away.

Zucchini Marmalade

     I found this recipe one day as I was surfin' around the internet trying to come up with creative ways to use all of the 18" zucchinis that are coming out of the gardens around here. I'm not a big fan of cooked zuc so, I set out a recipe quest. Well, I'm the kind of person that will try to make salsa out of just about any fruit or veggie - last year we tried cucumber salsa, blueberry salsa and even blackberry salsa. This year, I found zucchini salsa (that's another post in the makes) and then turned up this recipe.      This stuff is the bomb! What a great recipe this is - it uses up those huge zukes that grow so easily in just about any home garden AND  it gets another veggie into the belly of it's eater. We made a few modifications to make it fit our liking. 12 Cups zucchini, grated finely (I don’t see why you couldn’t use yellow squash!) 9 Cups sugar 1 Cup apple cider vinegar 2 large cans crushed pineapple 3  3oz packages Jello, any flavor….strawb

Northeast Oklahoma Hay & Feed Coop

Hello all, We just started a Yahoo group called Northeast Oklahoma Hay & Feed Coop. It is a list for information of hay and feed available in the Northeastern Oklahoma area. It is also going to be sort of a "help" list of information regarding things livestock owners deal with and/or need help with , to name a few: disbudding services, shearing sheep & llamas, locat, good vets, breeding services - just to name a few. Please feel free to join even if you are in one of the states surrounding Northeast Oklahoma. Also, if you are in the area and know of a good place to get hay and/or feed, feel free to join and share the information, please, thank you! Every couple of months, or more often if need-be, we can order a big load of really nice Alfalfa/Grass square bales from a guy in Missouri. We have got hay from him before and it is great stuff.
